“It doesn’t matter if it’s an EMP, solar flare, earthquake, global financial crash or pandemic that causes a societal collapse. When the grid goes down and the lights go out, many won’t be prepared.”
“Even with advanced warning of an impending winter storm or hurricane, the News routinely shows people running, last minute to the store for basic supplies. Humans for the most part, are unprepared, reactionary creatures and store shelves don’t hold enough supplies for everyone.”
Panic buying – The vast majority of people in the U.S. are non-peppers. When panic sets in, herd mentality takes over and they rush all at once to the grocery store to buy everything all at the same time.
These brand new “instant preppers” put a huge strain on our just in time supply chain. Like I said, store shelves do not hold enough supplies for everyone.
This first effects the metro areas where the population in dense. It takes a couple of days but thanks to the main-stream media and social networks, this panic buying spreads to the small town grocery store as well.
What happens next is this, once the supplies run out in the metro areas, raiding parties from the cities decent into the country side to continue their panic buying in the small towns.
People (mostly women) right now, have Facebook groups, where they share information like an invading army and post the tactical locations of stores that have supplies, like diapers, toilet paper, milk, bread, eggs, and other staples.
Local peasants go to their small country grocery store or market and see an unusual amount of out of state license plates in the parking lot and the store filled with wide eyed, strange faces frantically pushing piled high shopping carts down the isles.
My recommendation is to not be out in the stores topping off your supplies when the fear stricken masses have descended like locusts into the grocery stores and gas stations.
Fear and panic compromises the reasoning and decision making centers of the brain in people.
In short, they become more dangerous.
