You Can’t Save Them All

Die

Here’s a historical FACT. Even with advanced warning of an impending winter storm or hurricane, the News routinely shows people running, last minute to the store for basic supplies. Humans for the most part, are unprepared, reactionary creatures and store shelves don’t hold enough supplies for everyone.

Many survivalists and preppers become frustrated and angry that so many people aren’t “awake” and don’t see the world as they do.

This my sound cold and harsh, but you preppers and survivalists have to turn your back on those regular, unaware people who revel in their ignorant bliss. They very well could be your friends and family.

Now I don’t mean stop talking to family and friends.  I just mean you should stop preaching doom and gloom to people who don’t get it and don’t want to get it.

Explain

Shut you pie hole! Keep your dang trap shut.

Reality

Don’t waste your time trying to give answers to people who haven’t even asked the question.

You’ll save yourself a lot of extra time and frustration.

Do your best to not become one of those angry prepper/survivalist types.

You have to realize that you are the minority of the social fabric called society.  In fact, you make up such a small section of society, you barely even register on the radar.

If you are a loyal reader of this blog, I say Congratulations!

Reader

You are a splinter collective of a fringe society that’s broke away from a minority group that makes up an infinitesimal portion of main stream society.

You can’t wake-up those who don’t want to wake up.

So save your breath and keep what your non-prepping friends would call a “paranoid life style” in the closet.

I’m a fan of and promote staying off the radar.  You’ll find a measure of peace in doing so.

Banned Book Week (Sept 21-27)

banned-books week2014red

Most people don’t know that this week is “Banned Book Week” and probably nobody knows that 2 years ago, my little book “The SHTF Art of War” was banned within 48 hrs after its release by a Facebook Prepper Group with over 4,000 members. I was surprised to say the least!

I know my book is controversial to the “prepper” community. The chapter on “How to be a FEMA camp Hero” earns me the most hate mail. My book intentionally covers those controversial real world subjects you never think about unless you live in a war zone or an underdeveloped country. It pushes your mind into an uncomfortable way of thinking.

I always promote the freedom to choose or the freedom to express one’s opinions even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular and I stress the importance of ensuring the availability of those viewpoints to all who wish to read them.

Banning a book is an attempt to remove or restrict materials, based upon the objections of a person or group. As such, they are a threat to freedom of speech and choice.

“I have never in my life learned anything from any man who agreed with me.” ~Dudley Field Malone

The odds were 4 to 1 when I met a man with a gun.

JW

I crossed paths with this outnumbered, gun toting man while backpacking with three other men in the vast and remote wilderness known as the BWCA.  The BWCA is the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, is a 1,090,000-acre wilderness area within the Superior National Forest in northeastern Minnesota.  To use the term remote to describe that area is an understatement.

The man was carrying a canoe on his shoulders through one of the many portages you’ll find in the BWCA and his firearm was in plain view upon his right hip.

The man didn’t threaten me and the gun didn’t make me fear for my life.

The man with the gun didn’t ask or demand my respect.

What that firearm did do, was reminded me to be polite.

It reminded me of my youth and the stern look I’d get from my dad if I had a momentary lapse in the proper manners my mother and grandmother had taught me.  I knew from experience, that my dads stern look held behind it a guaranteed, appropriate amount of ass whoop-en.”

We humans sometimes forget that manners aren’t instinctual to our species.  It’s a behavior that needs to be taught and in some cases reminders need to be given.

Seeing that gun reminded me to pay attention to what I do and say. It reminded me to be polite and look someone in the eye when I meet them and nod hello.

As the man with the gun politely said hello and passed us by, something else happened.  An attractive woman with a backpack appeared 50 yards down the trail.  She was following behind the armed man.  She was obviously the man’s significant other.

All at once and without being told, everyone in my group, stood to the side of the trail to let her pass and tipped our hats with a nod and greeted her with the phrase “good morning ma’am.”

That small incident, out in that very wild and remote area where there literally is no 911 service stuck with me and made me think.  It made me think about how much more polite our society would be if openly wearing a side arm was just as much in fashion as wearing a cell phone.

Robert A. Heinlein, one of the most influential science fiction authors once said;

“An armed society is a polite society.  Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.”

A knifeless man is a Lifeless man.

On a daily basis, I highly recommend you carry a knife on you at all times and of course read “The SHTF Art of War.”

~Francesco Guicciardini wrote, “Whoever lives a life of chance will in the end find himself a victim of chance.

In our modern world, we’re so protected from the reality that is nature, we take for granted how important this one tool is.

It gave us tooth and claw to better protect ourselves from predators and our enemies.

It gave us the ability to make other tools to more easily acquire food shelter and clothing.

If you are going to leave your life up to fate, don’t be surprised if fate makes you a victim. Fate is always on the lookout for chumps that think that way.

guy1

I admit that I live a life style in an environment where you’re a fool to not carry mankind’s most precious tool.

I also understand that many men live in an urban landscape where everything is prepackaged for a woman’s convenience.

I’m on a crusade to put this forgotten edged tool back into the hands of good men in these urban environments.

You must prepare yourself to survive a chance encounter with a vicious predator, not hope you survive that encounter.

“Hope is not a plan.”

Be self-sufficient and prepare yourself. Do everything to stack the deck in your favor. You don’t want to leave your life up to chance anymore than you have to. It’s your duty to protect yourself and your family.

wolf

Don’t rely on luck or the chance that “that kind of thing would never happen to me.” People never think bad things can happen to them and when that bad thing is happening to them, their brain goes into a state of denial and they think “this bad thing can’t be happening.”

Be prepared! Learn about predators, how they profile, how they think, and how to avoid them. Be aware of your surroundings; pick your nose up out of that “Dumbphone” and look around. Don’t go around mindlessly, in a semi-hypnotic state.

I wrote my book “The SHTF Art of War” to combat this mentality.

In the end, your safety, and the safety of your family, is in your hands.

knifeclip

When the lights go out, you don’t want to be the one who is completely defenseless and without even basic knowledge of how the bad guys are going to operate.

Listen, do something for yourself today. Buy yourself a good quality knife and carry it.

samurai2

A man should never have to ask another man for a knife, unless he’s broken his knife in mortal combat.

MIM

If your woman has to witness your sorry ass ask another man to borrow his knife because you have failed in your masculine duties to carry  one…well let me tell you brother, women are hardwired to be sexually attracted to rugged men of action who can provide and protect. You have just dropped far down her S.M.V. (Sexual Marketplace Value) scale.

The very, very best SHTF/WROL weapons!

If you haven’t noticed, ammunition isn’t as easy to get as it was a year ago.  Here’s my recommendation to the “NEW” prepper/survivalist on a budget.

The bad news: You’ve come late to the party and most of the cake has been eaten.

The good news:  You didn’t miss the party!

Don’t forget to acquire the advanced knowledge of how the bad guys are going to operate described in my book “The SHTF Art of War.”   If you don’t see it coming…it won’t matter.  You’ll be dead and the bad guys will be molesting all your “prepps” you worked so hard for…including your significant other.

Too harsh a thought for you?

New Youtube video for the SHTF Art of War book.

This book deals with societal collapse disaster survival subject matter.  Please share the link with people you feel would benefit from this material.

Thank You!

A big thank you and the SHTF meaning of life.

Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.”
